| Description |
The interlinked questions of immigration policy, asylum, citizenship
rights and anti-discrimination law are all currently high on the
European agenda. This two-year project aims to chart the simultaneously
cooperative and conflictual political processes taking place about
these questions at the national, inter-governmental and Commission
levels.

- The workshop:
Migrants, Minorities
and New Forms of Citizenship in the European Union'with
the co-sponsorship of ERCOMER and this years European
Forum on Migration, at the European University Institute, Florence.
A policy report, to be published by the METROPOLIS project
late 1998.
- A special edition of the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies.
This will appear in October 1998, containing 8-9 of the papers
presented in Florence, plus introduction and bibliography.
- A text-book collection of essays on EU immigration and citizenship
policies for a major English publisher, involving many of the
participants of the conference. Contract to be found during
Summer 1998.
- Several conference and seminars papers.
- A special panel on developments in EU Third Pillar issues
at theEuropeanists conference in Baltimore (Feb 1998).
- A special presentation at the Council of Europe, Strasbourg
(Feb 1998) on EU immigration policies to MA students in the
European Studies programme.
