MSc in Comparative Studies of Migration,
Ethnic Relations and Multiculturalism

ERCOMER offers a uniquely designed Masters program in Comparative Studies of Migration, Ethnic Relations and Multiculturalism (MERM), which is one of the four Research Master Programmes of the Utrecht School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, The Graduate School of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Utrecht University.

MERM offers two-year training, after which students may obtain the degree of Master of Science (MSc) and starts on 1 September each year.

The study of migration, ethnic relations and multiculturalism is essential in understanding contemporary European societies within a context of changing international relations and governance. Modern societies are increasingly multicultural and understanding intercultural relations as well as cultural differences is an important requirement for modern civic life. The Masters program offers a unique opportunity to investigate these issues under the supervision of leading experts from ERCOMER, and is designed to provide an in-depth analysis of the processes of migration, ethnic and national identification, acculturation, multiculturalism, nationalism and ethnic conflict.
